This is an amazing and fascinating one-woman play that tells the story of Ms. Anna Mwalagho an African immigrant living in America. The play takes you through the unwinding road of challenges and triumphs in America. For some it is easy to forget that immigration is the story of human existence, human beings have been known to migrate since time immemorial. There are a lot of challenges and triumphs when one takes the courageous journey of migrating to a new land and new horizons. Narrated through comedy, storytelling, poetry, prose, music and collected anecdotes of Anna Mwalagho. This play is riveting, witty, comical, and provoking. As the play ends the actress says "At some point, we all have been immigrants trying to find a place called home in a foreign land."
The play is a labor of love and life-long work that trusted in the power and validity of impossible dreams; a dream that one day a girl from Kenya will stand proud, tall and loud on many world stages slaying many with belly-up laughter and healing many more with words celebrating the African identity and common humanity. Written by Anna Mwalagho, edited and directed by Mkawasi Mcharo Hall, #NeverThought is bold and unapologetic.
“I absolutely loved the show! It was great, super funny and it touched upon current issues and identity issues related to Africans and African Americans, as well as stereotypes of Continent that Anna so beautifully deconstructs. I totally recommend it.”
